Gagi Cowie Shell Necklace
This cowrie shell pendant necklace is the perfect symbol of African culture. Minimalist but made to be noticed, this pendant is the perfect addition to any outfit.
Cowrie shells have been used for centuries by tribes and cultures all across the African continent. In the past they were used as currency, for good luck, decoration and medicine.
Gagi is the word for cowrie shell in the language of the Luo tribe of Kenya.
The necklace is hand-cast from a shell which came from one of the famous beaches on the Kenyan coast.
This necklace matches perfectly with our cowrie shell bracelet stack and cowrie shell earrings.
This necklace was made by our brass artisan George and his team in their workshop just outside of Nairobi.
